Wednesday 11th July

LifeBlimey charlie, what a mash yesterday turned out to be. It was supposed to be a nice relaxed couple of beers with Duncan in Manchester - turned out that I got drunker than I have been in a long time.

The carnage pretty much began when I cracked open a bottle of wine at about 10.30am...ouch! I was supposed to be meeting up with Duncan at about 1pm but I had to phone him at 10.30am to sort out a place to meet. His mobile was switched off and I didn't have his home number. He finally got in touch at about 11.30am and we arranged to meet in the Rain Bar in the city centre.

Immediately after speaking with him Mr Jones was on the phone trying to get me to go for a pint with him at lunch. I hadn't seen Jones for ages so I rang Duncan and we postponed our meeting to 2.30pm and Chris and I went down to the Griffin for a copule of Kronenbergs. Chris pointed out that he was positive that the barmaid in the Griffin had the hots for me. I doubt it, but it's nice to dream.

Chris and I generally had a laugh and discussed some stuff for the future which could be a complete hoot if it happens...no more info will be disclosed though!

So I jumped on a tram in Altrincham and zipped into the City where I met up with Duncan. We wolfed down a few beers in The Rain Bar before deciding we were going to go to The Peveril for a game of table footy....sadly the Peveril doesn't open all day so we were in trouble. I decided that we should go to this pub in China Town. I'd seen it advertised in the Metro a few months earlier but had never been. I'm afraid I have no idea what it's called but it's pretty close to the famous chinese gate thingy.

By the time we'd arrived in this pub I was well on the way to being absolutely battered. Those that have drunk heavily with me in the past will no doubt remember that I succumb to fits of demon hickups in these situations...and I did! It was most embarassing. I eventually managed to drink my way through the hiccups and into a state of oblivion.

We decided it was time to depart the pub and I stumbled onto a tram...the wrong tram as it happens! I always manage to do that when I'm drunk. So I got off the wrong tram and jumped on the correct tram and eventually made my way home. Emma was busy preparing a lovely dinner of salmon and potato salad, which was absolutely delicious. Following dinner, "Bond, James Bond" came on the telly. Does life get any better than this I ask you? Anyway, fell asleep half way through Bond which is tantamount to sacrilege, and then Emma woke me and shuffled me off to bed.
