As was mentioned in an earlier post I arrived on the Monday to find e-mail, web access and my telephone up and running. These three things are, in my humble opinion, absolutely essential in any computer related job these days.

On my first day I had cause to use the web for the purpose it was intended, information retrieval. The source code is kept on VAX machines at work and since it's probably seven or eight years since I last used a VAX I couldn't remember how to do shit. A Google search on 'vax commands' brought up everything I needed to grab the source code off the VAX and start having a look through it. This is why companies that refuse web access to their employees are shooting themselves in the foot.

Anyway I worked out some of the stuff that had to be done and was given a licence to hack...sweeet....super sweeet. As I left on Friday the beginnings of a perfectly good app to allow deaf people to use payphones was in the making.

To put work to one side for a while my evenings were pretty quiet. Emma and I made it to "The Stamford Arms" on Thursday night for a few beers and listened to the quiz. We didn't enter but I reckon if we had of done we'd have done pretty well. On Friday [ today ] I went to the pub opposite work for a couple of pints. Well it is Friday after all.

Everything is going perfectly in my life at the moment. I have a cool chick that makes me jolly happy, a job that I enjoy, money is coming back in once more and my family and friends are around me. All in all if I was a rabbit then right now I'd be lying in a field of lettuces surrounded by chick rabbits with a packet of viagra in my back pocket.
